For this project, we are interested in the interaction of silent KvS and other Kv channels in hippocampal neurons. It has been shown that transcripts of different KvS subunits are expressed in diverse neuronal populations and that in specific subregions of the hippocampus they show strong correlations with other physiologically relevant Kv channels. To unravel a possible heteromerization of these KvS/Kv subunits, we are looking for a highly motivated PhD student (f/m) to utilize the full palette of neuroscientific techniques, including state-of-the-art electrophysiological recording techniques, fluorescence microscopy and behavioral tests.
The successful applicant will apply ...
- multielectrode array recordings of network activity and long-term potentiation,
- single-cell patch-clamp recordings of acute hippocampal slices,
- hippocampus-dependent recognition / spatial / social memory tasks
... to unravel the physiological and pathophysiological relevance of Kvs subunits on cellular, network and behavioral level.
